Attracted by the abundance of food or the need to reproduce, thousands of gigantic stingrays come for a few months to a small area off the coast of Ecuador, as biologists have discovered that they consider the highest concentration of this animal in the world.
Despite being one of the largest fish, reaching the eight meter wingspan, the gigantic stingrays (whose scientific name is blanket birostris) are one of the most mysterious inhabitants of the ocean, because until recently was unknown even were threatened to disappear.
During this period the water run through their bodies flattened by receiving the name of blankets, feed on plankton and even jump out of the ocean, apparently as a form of communication whose meaning is not yet clear.
They have a brain the size of a fist, the larger of the fish relative to its body, probably because of their great sociability, according to biologists.
We are talking about thousands and thousands of blankets live in that specific region.
The Andean country fishing banned in 2010 and has boosted its worldwide protection.
